Indication:

Orlistat is used to help obese people with weight and height requirements lose weight and maintain weight loss. It works in your intestines as it obstruct fats from being absorbed. This undigested fat is eliminated in the bowel. Orlistat is used with a reduced-calorie diet. The effects of Orlistat continue only as long as you are taking it.

How to take:

This drug is taken by mouth up to three times daily during each meal. When a meal is missed, skip the intake of medication. Take a daily dose of multivitamin supplement as Orlistat can interfere with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Take the multivitamins 2 hours before or after the intake of Orlistat. Precautions:

Signs and symptoms like fatty/oily stools, oily spotting, intestinal gas with discharge, bowel movement urgency, poor bowel control, or headaches can occur. Notify doctor immediately if symptoms worsen. Inform doctor of prior medical history including allergies and pregnancy. This medication is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women as it is not known if medication is excreted in breast milk. Consult doctor if planning to breastfeed.
