Indications:
Captopril is used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. This drug contains chemicals that help the blood vessels dilate so blood flows smoothly and the heart can pump blood efficiently. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to take:
Captopril is taken as directed by the doctor. This drug comes in a tablet form taken by mouth on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals. It is best to take the tablets at regular intervals and finish the prescribed course of the drug. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Swallow tablet as a whole with plenty of water, do not break, chew or crush. Precautions:
Captopril can cause dizziness therefore do not engage in activities that require mental alertness. Limit alcohol intake as it may worsen the effect of the drug. This drug is used with caution on black patients because it may produce greater risk of side effects. Captopril is used with caution in children, elderly, pregnant and lactating women.
