Metronidazole (Brandname: Flagyl) - effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. It inhibits growth of trichomonae and amoebae by binding to its DNA which results to the loss of its DNA helical structure by destructing its DNA strand, disrupting nucleic acid synthesis resulting to its cell death.
