Benzylpenicillin
Benzylpenicillin is effective against a variety of gram positive, gram negative and anaerobic organisms.
Indications:
Penicillin is effective for treatment of laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and soft tissue and skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Only mild to moderate infections are treated with oral penicillin.
How to take:
Dosage requirements for penicillin are variable and must be individualized on the basis of the disease under treatment and the response of the patient. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more Penicillin than is indicated at the label without consulting a doctor.
Precautions:
Penicillin is considered safe during pregnancy. For nursing mothers, penicillin is excreted in breast milk therefore it may cause diarrhea or allergic reaction in infant. Before initiating therapy with any penicillin, careful inquiry should be made concerning previous hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin, cephalosporins, or other allergens. If an allergic reaction occurs, the drug should be discontinued and the appropriate therapy instituted.
