Indications:

For the symptomatic relief of bronchial asthma and for relief of reversible bronchospasm which may occur in association with bronchitis and emphysema.

How to take:

Adult and children over 15 years of age: 5mg 3 times daily, not to exceed 15mg in 24 hour basis. If disturbing side effects are observed, reduce dosage to 2,5mg 3 times daily without loss of beneficial effects,. Children 12-15 years of age: 2,5mg 3 times daily, not to 7,5mg in 24 hour basis. Precautions:

Do not violate instructions. Take with meals to minimize GI upset. Report adverse effects. It helps breathing easier by opening and relaxing the air passages of the lungs. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take:

Theophylline is taken as directed by the physician. It comes in a tablet form, taken by mouth with a full glass of water on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Swallow tablet as a whole, do not break, chew or crush. If a dose is missed, take one a soon as possible. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Precautions:

Inform doctor of any allergies to theophylline or any other drugs before taking theophylline. Also inform the doctor of any medication taken especially prescription drugs such as cimetidine, allopurinol, prednisone, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, erythromycin, azithromycin, carbamazepine, phenytoin and other medications. Also tell the doctor of non-prescription drugs, vitamins, herbal and dietary supplements that patient are taking. Some medicines interfere with this drug hence increasing side effects of theophylline. Doctor should also be informed of the patients medical condition especially hypertension, liver, thyroid and heart diseases. Theophylline is used with caution in pregnant and lactating women. Limit alcohol and cigarette use as it may decrease the effectiveness of this drug.
