Mefenamic acid is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Although exact action is not known, it prevents further pain and inflammation. Mefenamic acid treats the symptoms but not the disease.

Indications:

Mefenamic acid is used to treat mild to moderate pain such as menstrual pain or toothache. It works by stopping the production of a substance that causes pain, inflammation and fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take:

Mefenamic acid is taken as directed by the physician. It comes in a capsule form to be taken by mouth usually every 6 hours or as prescribed. Precautions:

Inform doctor of any allergies to mefenamic acid or any other drugs before taking mefenamic acid.
